Drexel’s older Nutrition Sciences listings, and the Pennsylvania hub, describe an active B.S., an M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics, and an M.S. in Human Nutrition. As of the 2026-27 catalog, the M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics and both Human Nutrition tracks are no longer accepting applications, the B.S. and the B.S./M.S. bridge have been closed since 2023-24, and the live program pages for the three master’s programs and the B.S. return errors. Only the Ph.D., which has no RD pathway, shows no closure.

When open, the M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics was an ACEND Future Education Model graduate program with integrated supervised practice and no separate match. This profile documents the programs and their status so readers can see what the older pages describe, and applicants should confirm any reopening with Drexel directly.

Master of Science, Nutrition and Dietetics (Closed for 2026-27)

The M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics is 63 quarter credits over seven consecutive quarters, from a fall start, at $1,130 per credit: about $71,190 in tuition, or $73,450 with term fees and the $300 first-year fee (derived, assuming every quarter bills as full time). It had two classroom quarters first and supervised practice from quarter 3 in a 15-credit practice course, then concentrations in sports, adult clinical, pediatric clinical, or community nutrition, and a capstone or thesis.

  • Supervised practice is integrated with no separate match, in and around the Delaware Valley; total hours were not found, and sites outside the area need director approval
  • Admission needed a 3.0 GPA, eight prerequisites at B or better (English, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, psychology, statistics, introductory nutrition), two letters, a statement, and a resume, with no interview; sciences under five years old
  • The school lists student membership of $58, exam preparation of $300 to $385, and a child-abuse clearance of $10 as extra costs
You Should Know

Drexel’s catalog states 24 hours a week of practice while the program page states 24 to 32. Drexel says the program is in person only, while ACEND lists a combination of in-person and online coursework and approved distance education in October 2025.

Master of Science, Human Nutrition, DPD Track (Closed for 2026-27)

The DPD track is 45 credits, coursework only, and it earns a verification statement but no supervised practice. It cost about $52,380 on campus at $1,164 per credit, or $50,850 online at $1,130 plus a $125 annual fee (derived), and ran 12 months or 12 to 21 months, with part-time about two years. Students could study in person or fully online with synchronous sessions between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern.

Graduates then needed a separate internship. The catalog says students were automatically admitted to a partner internship at Yale New Haven, the University of Maryland Medical Center, Virginia Commonwealth University, or Tulane, while an archived page calls the partner internships optional and adds Emory. Drexel published first-attempt exam pass rates for Human Nutrition alumni of 96.3% (78 of 81) for 2017 to 2021 and 93.8% (61 of 65) for 2018 to 2022, with 100% within one year, and an internship match of 43 of 43 for 2019 to 2023. These are Human Nutrition alumni, not graduates of the Future Education Model program.

Master of Science, Human Nutrition, Nutrition Sciences Track (Closed for 2026-27)

This research track is 45 credits (18 core and 27 elective) with a required 6-credit thesis, over two academic years, and has no RD route.

Bachelor of Science, Nutrition and Foods (Closed Since 2023-24)

The B.S. in Nutrition and Foods is 182 quarter credits over four years with an optional single co-op, and Drexel states it offers its DPD at the master’s level, not in the B.S. A 5-year B.S./M.S. bridge, applied for at the end of year two with a 3.0 GPA, closed in the same year. The department’s own page still lists the B.S., but it is stale, and a search snippet gave the closure as 2024-25, which could not be confirmed.

Doctor of Philosophy, Nutrition Sciences

The Ph.D. is 90 quarter credits (51 coursework and 39 research) plus a dissertation, on campus, with at least 10 contact hours of teaching. It has no ACEND accreditation and no RD route, and Drexel describes it as one of only two of its kind in Pennsylvania. Admission needs a 3.0 GPA, a science bachelor’s, advanced biochemistry, a human nutrition course, and statistics, with a January 15 deadline and a $65 fee, for a fall start.

You Should Know

Drexel’s pages disagree on the GRE for the Ph.D.: one gives a minimum combined score of 308, another says it is required for post-bachelor’s applicants and discretionary for post-master’s, and the catalog is silent. English test minimums also differ. Funding was not found, and the Ph.D. has no tuition row of its own, so the $1,571 default College of Nursing and Health Professions rate is inferred.

Tuition

Drexel’s published 2026-27 per-credit rates are $1,130 for the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, $1,164 for the Master of Human Nutrition, and $1,130 for the online Human Nutrition DPD, with the College default at $1,571. Drexel is private and charges one rate, on a quarter system.

  • General fees: $280 per full-time term and $140 part time, plus a $300 first-year program fee; the Ph.D. carries $117 per quarter in program fees, and the online DPD $125 a year
  • Derived: M.S. Nutrition and Dietetics about $73,450; Human Nutrition DPD about $53,800 on campus and $51,000 to $51,100 online
  • No program-specific verification-statement fee was found

Be aware that:

Whether the summer quarter bills the term fee is not stated, and the annual fee versus billing cap cannot be computed because the cap is not published. Official figures are on Drexel’s graduate tuition page.

Why Choose This Nutrition Program?

Best suited, today, to prospective doctoral students in nutrition science. For the credential, readers should look at other Philadelphia-area programs, because every Drexel route to it is closed for the 2026-27 cycle.

The honest trade-off is that Drexel was an early adopter of the Future Education Model, with integrated practice and published pass rates, but the programs that offered it have stopped admitting. If Drexel reopens the master’s programs, check the supervised-practice hours, which were never published, and the delivery format, which Drexel and ACEND describe differently.

Accreditation

Drexel is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which matters for transfer credit, graduate admission, and federal financial aid.

ACEND’s directory lists a Drexel Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (initial accreditation November 11, 2019, M.S. offered) and a Didactic Program in Dietetics (initial 1976), both accredited with terms ending December 31, 2031. ACEND’s November 2019 decisions list the DPD as voluntarily closing with a teach-out effective September 30, 2023 and, in the same meeting, reorganizing into a Future Education Model graduate program. ACEND’s July 2024 decisions show full and continued accreditation after a site visit for both, and in October 2025 it approved adding distance education for the Graduate Program. No Drexel entry appears in 2020 through 2023, the 2026 page read runs through July, and Drexel is not on the Programs Under Review page.

The 2019 teach-out sits oddly with a DPD accredited to 2031, and no source explains it. Drexel’s accreditation page says only that the Didactic Program in Nutrition is accredited. The Ph.D. and the Nutrition Sciences M.S. track have no ACEND coverage. A graduate of the M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics completes the degree and supervised practice and can sit for the CDR exam, while a graduate of the Human Nutrition DPD holds a verification statement and still needs an internship and the exam.
