La Salle University lists 2 ACEND-accredited nutrition credentials, and La Salle’s own program pages say the Nutrition major is on pause and not accepting applications:
- B.S., Nutrition (the Didactic Program in Dietetics; paused)
- 5-Year B.S./M.S., Nutrition with the Master’s Coordinated Program in Dietetics (paused)
Program Tracks Overview
| Program | Est. Tuition | Est. Duration | Credit Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| B.S. Nutrition (DPD) | $40,500 a year (flat, full-time) | 4 years (8 semesters) | 122 minimum (plan grid sums to 124) |
| 5-Year B.S./M.S. (Coordinated) | $43,875 for the 45 graduate credits (derived), plus undergraduate years | 5 years from freshman entry; about 21 months for post-bacc entry (derived) | 151 per plan and handbook (catalog summary says 172) |
The lead fact is the pause. La Salle’s nutrition and 5-year program pages say the major is on pause and the school is not accepting applications, while enrolled students will be able to finish on time. The date and reason were not found, and the 2026-27 handbooks and the catalog still describe admission as ongoing.
When open, the Coordinated Program was La Salle’s RD route: a 45-credit master’s with more than 1,000 hours of supervised practice built in, so no separate internship match is needed. The B.S. alone is a Didactic Program in Dietetics and does not lead to RD eligibility without a master’s, supervised practice, and the exam. This page records what the programs are so that readers can see what older listings describe; confirm any reopening with La Salle directly.

Bachelor of Science, Nutrition (Didactic Program in Dietetics)
The B.S. in Nutrition is billed at $40,500 for a 30-credit year, equal to $1,350 per credit at the part-time rate (derived), plus fees of $550, $200, and $150 per semester, or about $42,300 a year in total (derived), with a one-time $350 orientation fee for freshmen. It runs four years, and the school states a minimum of 122 credits, with 87 in the major.
Coursework includes food science, community nutrition, management in nutrition and dietetics, quantity food preparation, medical nutrition therapy I and II with a lab, nutrition education and counseling, food and culture, and sustainable food systems and food justice. A capstone produces a research paper and poster, and one core course requires a C or higher. The degree builds in no supervised practice; field work is an elective. Transfers may bring up to 70 credits, and prior work experience is not accepted for DPD courses.
You Should Know
The credit total differs by page: 122 in the handbook and catalog summary, 124 in the plan-of-study grid, and 134 in the progress chart. The DPD handbook calls delivery in-person or hybrid with limited asynchronous sections, while ACEND’s directory says a combination of in-person and online coursework with approval for distance education.
5-Year B.S./M.S., Nutrition with the Master’s Coordinated Program in Dietetics
The estimated tuition for the graduate portion of the 5-year program is $43,875 (45 credits at $975), or about $45,400 with the $285 per-semester university fee over five semesters and the $100 graduation fee (derived, excluding program costs). The plan puts the first graduate courses in the fall of year four and totals 151 credits, with 106 undergraduate-level credits by this review’s sum.
5-Year Curriculum
The 45 graduate credits are 30 in supervised practice courses (NUTR 601, 602, 605, 608, and 609) and 15 in nutrition courses and a graduate capstone seminar (NUTR 510, 512, 514, 612, and PHLT 635). There is no thesis. Students need a B or better in every graduate course, a 3.2 GPA to remain, and a practicum course may be repeated once.
5-Year Supervised Practice
- A catalog minimum of 1,000 hours (the web page says over 1,000), integrated in the degree with no separate internship match
- Course hours of 8 to 12 per week in the first two practice courses, up to 32 per week for 10 weeks in the third, and 24 per week in the last two; at 15-week terms that sums to roughly 1,280 to 1,400 hours (derived, not published)
- The program assigns sites and says requests for specific placements cannot be honored, aiming for within about an hour of La Salle or the student’s permanent address; a car is described as a necessity
- Up to 150 hours of prior experience may be considered, with no change in tuition
5-Year Admissions
- A 3.2 cumulative GPA and a 3.2 in verification courses, B or better in the 300- and 400-level nutrition courses, and C or better in the sciences
- Freshman direct-admit students are guaranteed a place if they keep these standards; non-degree applicants need at least 18 DPD credits unless they hold a verification statement issued within 3 years
- A spring application for a fall start, with acceptance dependent on slots; post-baccalaureate entrants complete the sequence in about two years, and a seven-year completion limit applies
- Deadline date, cohort size, GRE, and DICAS use were not found; the application appears to be run internally by faculty
You Should Know
The catalog summary shows a 127-credit bachelor’s plus the 45-credit master’s, 172 in all, while the plan grid and handbook total 151, leaving a gap of 21 credits that La Salle does not explain. The handbook says the verification statement is issued after 127 credits in the fourth year. It is also unclear which rate a freshman-entry student pays in year four, when undergraduate and graduate courses overlap. The tuition schedule’s adult and summer tables list a $975 per-credit dietetics fee that matches the M.S. rate and is not explained.
Tuition
La Salle’s published 2026-27 graduate rate for the M.S. in Nutrition is $975 per credit, up 4.8% from $930. Full-time undergraduate tuition is $40,500 a year, up 6.0% from $38,200, and La Salle is private, so everyone pays one rate.
- Undergraduate fees per semester: university $550, student activity $200, student wellness $150; science lab fees are $100 per course and the graduation fee $100
- Graduate: a university fee of $285 per semester and a $100 graduation fee
- Program costs the Coordinated Program handbook puts at about $1,500 to $2,000 out of pocket, plus student membership near $60, a lab coat near $50, and professional meetings of $250 to $500 a year
- Required liability insurance of $2 million and $5 million, plus fingerprinting and background checks; costs were not found
Be aware that:
The graduate total assumes the university fee bills in all five semesters including summer, and excludes the program costs above. Graduate assistantship rules for nutrition were not found. Official figures are on La Salle’s tuition and fees page.
Why Choose This Nutrition Program?
Best suited to people who need to know where the program stands before they plan around it. Both routes are paused to new applicants, so the useful reading of this page depends on whether you are already enrolled.
If you are a current La Salle student, the school says you will be able to complete your degree on time, and both programs hold ACEND accreditation to 2033. If you are applying now, confirm with the department whether the post-baccalaureate and second-degree entry routes are open, because the pause notice does not say and the handbooks describe them as available.
If the program reopens, its distinguishing feature is the integrated master’s: supervised practice sits inside the degree with no separate match, though sites are assigned, a car is expected, and progression requires a B in every graduate course.
Accreditation
La Salle is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which matters for transfer credit, graduate admission, and federal financial aid. The school’s accreditations page lists a Non-Compliance Warning from June 26, 2025, while the Philadelphia Inquirer reported reaffirmation on May 29, 2026 with a monitoring report due the following February. This review did not find the Commission’s own record, so the current status is unconfirmed.
ACEND’s directory lists a Didactic Program in Dietetics (initial accreditation April 1, 1999) and a Coordinated Program in Dietetics (initial April 1, 2002), both accredited with terms ending June 30, 2033, and neither shows an inactive or closure date. ACEND’s January 2026 decisions list both as receiving full and continued accreditation after a site visit, and its April 2019 decisions approved the Coordinated Program’s change to a graduate completion requirement. The 2020 through 2025 pages have no La Salle entry, and La Salle is not on the Programs Under Review page. The school’s accreditations page still shows a next date of June 2026, which is out of date against the directory.
No ACEND teach-out or closure notice was found for either program. A graduate of the Coordinated Program completes the master’s and supervised practice and can sit for the CDR exam, while a graduate of the B.S. holds a verification statement and still needs a master’s, an internship, and the exam.
